This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

IBM has no plans to remove the *OBJMGT requirement for CPY, so this request is being closed.
Neither 'cp' nor the mapped drive will copy authorities. They are only concerned about copying the *data* and only need enough authority to access the data. CRTDUPOBJ requires *OBJMGT authority to the existing object, so this is consistent with CPY. CPY and CRTDUPOBJ are trying to copy the *object* with all of its attributes (including authorities). Different tasks, different authority requirements.
IBM has received the requirement and is evaluating it. IBM will provide a response after evaluation is complete.
The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a “nice to have”low priority feature.
The RFE raised forms part of a wider discussion about IBM i security and standards. The CEAC will independently seek an update and discussion with a senior IBM i security architect.
Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.
