Navigator for i

Th UI in Navigator for i is not consistent. As different components have different developers, the way they design their applications is different. Selecting a date in a calendar is not working the same, which makes it annoying to use.


Use Case:

As good up to date documentation is not present for Navigator for i and the Advanced Job Scheduler in particular, the UI has to be intuitive. Which means that all applications in Navigator for i, indifferent of who is developing it, must have the same approach. In the PMR a date selection is mentioned, but the RFE can not be limited to that aspect only IMHO.

    This requirement has been delivered as part of the new IBM Navigator for i GUI interface. Details on how to access and use this new interface can be found at: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/6483299

    The support has been delivered on IBM i 7.3 & 7.4 and can be obtained by loading and installing the Latest HTTP PTF Group

    IBM i 7.3 - Group PTF SF99722 level 32 or higher
    IBM i 7.4 - Group PTF SF99662 level 13 or higher

    The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a high priority requirement that is important to be addressed. Consistency throughout a product is highly important for customer perception and adoption, and can overcome even a lack in the documentation.

    Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.
