I have two requests for enhancing the Advanced Job Scheduler on As/400. They are closely related together.
Initial issue has been found during PMR 46407,668,668
1. Update remote system definition in AJD (file: QUSRIJS/QAIJSRMT) allow use FQDN. Current solution allows only IP4. Does not support IP6 as well. This feature will reflect nowadays requirements. Please find enclosed picture AJS-FQDN.
2. Allow defining system groups to submit a scheduled task(s) for certain systems simultaneously. Basically, allow to logically group few systems into one entity and submit a task for that particular group. Also, one system can belong to more than one entity (group). Please find enclosed picture AJS-Group. Allow to create a group and assign backend systems into that group.
Let say we have w have 100 AS/400 servers.
30 are located in the US, 30 in Asia, 40 in Europe.
In each region there is 1:1 ratio for production and test systems. (e.g. in US are 15 PROD & 15 TEST systems)
The grouping allows running scheduled tasks per defined group or entity.
Case1:
Run tasks on the group: ALL_US_PROD systems will affect 15 systems, but is scheduled only as one job on a central system.
Case2: Run scheduled tasks on the group: ALL_TEST system. This will affect: 15_US, 15_Asia 20_EU systems in fact.
Case3: Run scheduled tasks on the group: ALL_SYSTEMS. This will affect all 100 servers.
Hand in hand with this solution gonna be needed to update Scheduler log to allow capture messages from target system to the one central system to monitor whether the job has been finished successfully or not. Allow filtering per each system, a group of systems, etc.

This request is low priority since it has been open several months and it still has a low number of votes..
The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a high priority requirement that is important to be addressed. Now that IPv6 is supported, it is important that that be reflected across all functions.

Taking into consideration that IBM i Access for Windows (5770XE1) will not be refreshed for IBM i release 7.2 or beyond (see http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=isg3T1026807 )
and it will be EOS by 20 April 2019 (see https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/community/wikis/home?lang=en#!/wiki/IBM%20i%20Technology%20Updates/page/IBM%20i%20Access%20End%20of%20Service%20Dates), the CEAC independently seek an update of the roadmap for Advanced Job Scheduler, and it's integration with IBM i's system management tools.
