Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Enable ability to customize the name of the journal on CREATE SCHEMA

I would like to be able to specify the journal name when using CREATE SCHEMA command on IBM i, currently the Schema is created and journal is QSQJRN.

The reason is if I created a schema starting with letter Q ,it creates the journal QSQJRN and I am unable to use use journal cache, JRNCACHE(*YES).

Use Case:

CHGJRN JRN(QZRDQWKEDT/QSQJRN) JRNCACHE(*YES)

IBM does not intend to provide a solution to this request at this time, so it is being closed. The database team has many higher priority items to implement. This request is lower priority since it has been open for several years and it still has a low number of votes.
