Stronger encryption in IBM Navigator for I Series

Base-64 encoding is not a sufficient method to ensure password confidentiality. The application continues to store password data in a dangerous manner and allows its reading through the HTTP GET request.
The desired solution would be, for example, to combine the coding and the hash function.

Use Case:

1. when user is logged to the Navigator for System i, and they send
request:

/SystemiNavigator/dispatch?h=com.ibm.as400.mc.systemgroups.SystemComnHan
dler&f=querySystem

The user has the ability to easily set the Navigator support be fully covered by TLS/SSL using the wizard provided in the Web Admin GUI. By leveraging full encryption for all data flowing between the client and the server should provide the requested support

The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a high priority requirement that is important to be addressed.

Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

For more information about CEAC, see http://www.comeur.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=3285
