Provide an IBM i Service to return information similar to DSPACTPJ

DSPACTPJ has useful information for tuning the performance of prestart jobs. However, there is no outfile support on this command, nor is there an equivalent API. It would be nice to return this information in a manner that can be used programmatically, and it seems like an IBM i Service would be a great choice. In addition, with a service, the interface could be expanded to support requesting multiple PJEs so one SELECT statement can be used to access all PJEs for a subsystem (for example).

Use Case:

I want to tune my prestart job entries and see all the entries in one request, rather than manually reviewing the active prestart jobs information one at a time. I would also like a programmatic interface to the DSPACTPJ information.

Changing the status from declined to delivered. This is now available in 7.4 and 7.3.
You will need the following PTF's:
    SF99704 Level 7 (for 7.4)
    SF99703 Level 18 (for 7.3)
The documentation can be found at this link:

This RFE should be changed to DELIVERED now that QSYS2.PRESTART_JOB_STATISTICS service is available. Thanks.

Thank you for submitting this request. We agree that it would be useful to be able to programmatically retrieve the active prestart job status. However, we decided to implement this as an API instead. For more information on this API, please see the Retrieve Active Prestart Job Status (QWTRAPJS) API https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/ssw_ibm_i_74/apis/qwtrapjs.htm.

The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a medium priority requirement that should be addressed. This would be a valuable DB2 Service, similar to other existing services.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

For more information about CAAC, see www.common.org/caac

For more details about CAAC's role with RFEs, see http://www.ibmsystemsmag.com/Blogs/i-Can/May-2017/COMMON-Americas-Advisory-Council-%28CAAC%29-and-RFEs/
