Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

Provide code formatting feature for code indentations.

Please add a code formatting feature that allows me to indent free code that has gotten out of hand.

It would be nice to have a property option to specify the start point of indenting (main line or procedures, as left as possible, inside sub routines start the number of indent characters) and an indent spaces number.

Use Case:

For those lines that will extend beyond the source line size, I am certain someone will want you to reformat the line into two or more additional lines.

It seems to me that if you follow CL code formatting rules then most programmers would be happy. Me I can live with folding my own code that goes over the source line size.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Programming Languages
Product - Developer for Power Systems

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Rational
Product family - Design & development
Product - Developer for Power Systems

This RFE is a duplicate of another RFE. See http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=10189 for current status.

This RFE is consistent with our strategy and product roadmap and IBM is continuing to evaluate.

Attachment (Use case): The outter outline marker highlights the BEGSR/ENDSR pair. You can see where code was indented quite far even though it falls to the same level as one of the IFs blocks.
