Increase NFS max Wsize and Rsize

Increase NFS max Wsize and Rsize to 512KB or maximum allowed via NFS v3. Iseries NFS client is currently using TCP to communicate with NFS server.

Our NFS platform will allow much more than the current Power System maximum of 32,768 Bytes.


Use Case:

System: Fitness Industry Billing System
Currently migrating from Content Manager for DB2 to Content Manager on Demand. Migrating 50 + Million images / 40TB from CM to CMOD utilizing NFS to store the static images for CMOD.

    This support is available in IBM i 7.5.
    The maximum rsize and wsize for NFS is now 512K bytes when using TCP. The maximum when using UDP remains at 65536. The default has not changed so in order to use the larger size, it must be specified.
    Additionally, NFS has changed to use TCP by default. In order to use UDP, ADDMFS/MOUNT options must specify 'UDP'.

    The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a high priority requirement that is important to be addressed. Keeping up with standards is always a good idea, and we want to ensure the banking industry has function that it needs.

    Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

Improve NFS Client performance increasing wsize e rsize max size

The actual cache parameter wsize and rsize of the NFS Client on IBMi are limited on a max of 32768 byte , this is a limit on performance on copy over NFS mount , especially with 10Gb ethernet connection . on other platform the max size is 1048576 ...
