BRMS GUI SWA MSGQ

Inconsistency between GUI and Telnet interface.

The BRMS greenscreen allows you to specify the name of the message queue, when running a save with the option save while active. You are allowed to enter the name of a message queue, not the library. The GUI interface also allows you to enter only the name of the message queue. However the browse option allows you to select a message queue, shown in a window including the library of that message queue.

Use Case:

The point is however that when running the BRMS Backup Control Group the library of that message queue needs to be in the library list, otherwise that message queue can not be found.

The BRMS team agrees with the request and a solution appears to be desirable and feasible. The BRMS intends to provide a solution. However, BRMS plans may change and no commitment is made that a solution will be provided.

This is still on the BRMS team backlog list, the community can continue to vote to influence priority.

The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM not implement this request. Just use a message queue created in QUSRSYS. If the user decides to use a message queue in a user library, that user should be aware to include that library in their library list.

The BRMS team will use this request as input to planning but no commitment is made or implied. The request will be updated in the future if the request is implemented. The BRMS team will use votes and comments from others in the community to help prioritize this request.

The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a high priority requirement that is important to address.

This request was originally raised by CEAC in 2015, reference AR0223 on old requirements database.

Background: The CEAC members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a crucial role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.
