This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

IBM believes that the request described has been solved and is available with the following IBM i DB PTF Groups: 7.4 SF99704 Level 7 and IBM i 7.3 SF99703 Level 18.
QSYS2.SUBSYSTEM_INFO and several other subsystem services were included in these IBM i DB PTF Groups.
Just my opinion - there is nothing wrong with "rolling your own solution" as you suggest but is we accept that IBM has set the future direction of IBM i Admin and DB APIs to be via SQL services. Then, where there is a gap, it is perfectly reasonable for someone to request this gap be filled.
That is literally what this RFE process is for.
IBM will set the development priorities, they make those sorts of choices on a daily basis. Adding an RFE is just one of the ways this gets prioritised.
Just my personal opinion... Why not write this yourself ?
You can't expect that IBM writes a function for every single API that exists on the system... while there are plenty of other things that you can't develop yourself. I hope IBM gives priority to such requests rather than wasting time on this.
