This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

The problem in SAP environments is that SAP job interuptions occur during the save while active when objects are locked by the save process.
Since V7R3 files and folders in IFS can be saved while active by changing the paramter SAVACTOPT(*ALWCKPWRT).
Therefore every file and folder must be changed with CHGATR set to ATR(*ALWCKPWRT) and ATR(*INHCKPWRT).
Unfortunately this function is not included in BRMS, so the IFS save must be excluded in the BRMS control group.
After the save by the controlgroup an extra save must be done separately, which makes controlling the save process much more difficult and takes more time.
Attached please find the workaround for this,
the screenshot of a control group without *LINK and one with the program for saving the IFS.
Can't this funktion be added to BRMS to also use it in the control group ?
In every SAP environment with save while active using BRMS.

IBM believes that the request described has been solved and is available with the June 2020 BRMS PTFs (7.2 - SI72865, 7.3 - SI72866, and 7.4 - SI72867). For additional information on this support reference the following BRMS wiki page: https://helpsystemswiki.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/IWT/pages/614662152/Backup+Control+Group+IFS+Save+While+Active+Support
The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a HIGH priority requirement that is important to address.
The functionality became available with 7.3 only in the operating system and BRMS green-screen commands. Since most users use the GUI function to perform backups to have the functionality added to here would be essential.

The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a high priority requirement that is important to be addressed. Any glitches for back-up are best fixed for the good of the platform, especially when many large companies use BRMS.
