This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

During file upload (data transfer), for numeric fields, the length parameter for the last field specified in the .fdfx file is ignored, and instead all digits to the end of the record are attempted to be placed in the corresponding IBM i field. This results in an error: Data in Row 1, Column 4 is too long for the IBM i field (xxx). Note that in this case column 4 is the last field specified in the .fdfx file. When we specify "AllowNumericOverflow" in the ACS properties file, those extra digits still get added to the corresponding IBM i field, resulting in a value of all "9"'s. We would like the length parameter for the last field specified in the .fdfx file to be honored. This was the behavior in Client Access for Windows.
Customer provides the business with inventory data in a flat file. We upload that data to the MMS system on the IBM i.

We have reviewed this RFE along with the accompanying PMR. We have decided to decline this request. Even though your specific modifications to the fdf file for IBM i Access for Windows had the expected behavior, they were not supported. For data integrity reasons, the data file provided for the upload must match the format of the fdfx file (which must also match the IBM i file).
