This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

When you download the jtopen package from sourceforge https://sourceforge.net/projects/jt400/files/
you get a zipfile with the subfolder java6, java8, java9 with extra jt400.jar files compiled with each java version and when i am right, also comaptible with specific jdbc versions (4.0, 4.2,...)
We use of course the newest versions provided via ptf for ibm i os V7R2. But here i do not see the subfolders java8 and java9 under /QIBM/ProdData/HTTÜ/Public/jt400/lib
Only java6 subfolder is provided. Meanwhile i know that ibm provides the java8 subfolder on V7R3 via ptf. but why not on V7R2? Java 8 is also supported there and we have Applications that need functions which are only available in the java8 version of jtopen. Therefore this update process to get the java8 version of jtopen has to be done manually (in our case around 150 ibm i os partitions).
Some jdbc functions are only provided via java8 jtopen driver. We need this functions for some java 8 applications. But this specific driver version is not delivered via ptf on V7R2 although java8 is also supported. For us it is manual task on a lot ibm i os partitions to provide that driver. Please provide it also via V7R2 ptfs. I guess additional 4 MB will not harm any ibm i customer.

The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a “nice to have” low priority feature.
Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.
