IBM Power Ideas Portal

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Turn off or change auto-selection of text when double-clicking error list

1) Do a compile, see errors in the Error List pane.
2) Double-click on an error to get the errors marked in the source editor.
3) Return to editor and commence fixing source.
4) Select some source, but invariably forget that double-clicking in the Error List has already selected some source behind the scenes.
5) Curse because now a huge chunk of my program is selected.
6) Press Alt-U to unselect everything.
7) Re-select the source I really wanted to select.

Use Case:

As above, but either simply highlight the text at step 2 or change the selection mode such that starting to select a new block automatically de-selects the text from the error list. (I believe that would be the standard stream selection mode.)

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Programming Languages
Product - Developer for Power Systems

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Rational
Product family - Design & development
Product - Developer for Power Systems

This RFE is a duplicate of RFE 45610. See http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=45610 for current status.

This RFE addresses the same basic issue as RFE ID 45610:

This RFE is consistent with our strategy and product roadmap and IBM is continuing to evaluate.
