Problem description: We create flash partitions for temporary use and on the ENDFLASH we are just going to do another STRFLASH to refresh the data. No need to keep it. The writing changes to disk on the Vary Off is taking anywhere from 5-20 minutes to complete.
Current workaround: None
Proposed resolution: We would like the option in a PowerHA Flash enviorment to have a flag that would only be available to flash copies to pass in do not write changes to disk, just clear up memory.
Business impact: We need to flash and re-flash as quickly as possible. We have minutes to reflash. If it keeps growing it will have external client impact.
Which release do you see the problem on?: V7R3
We have systems that flash repeatedly to get fresh data. The vary on is in minutes, the vary off takes anywhere from 5-25 minutes writing changes to disk.
Please provide an option to not write changes to disk. or help us understand more on that process to improve the times.
