Add Network > Servers >TCP/IP servers to ACS

Add a new network section to ACS and add Network > Servers TCP/IP server

Use Case:

We would like to have the ability to start and stop TCP/IP servers without having to go into navigator for the web.
This is one of the couple of features that we miss from the old access client solutions.

After evaluating this request, the decision has been made to not duplicate this function that is already available in Navigator for i. If there is a specific enhancement relative to Navigator for i, please open a separate RFE to Systems Management. If you need to use Navigator for i across multiple partitions/systems, you may see better performance for a specific feature by changing the Target System within a single browser tab for Navigator for i instead of starting a separate tab for each partition/system. You can change the Target System at:
Target Systems and Groups --> Target Systems

    Hi MarinaSchwenk

You can start and stop TCP/IP services from the command line with the STRTCPSVR and ENDTCPSVR (be careful the default is *ALL)

If you want to know what is running then use the NETSTAT *CNN command or via SQL using the IBM i Service

    Hi Jason

Can I suggest you run the ARE network checker, As it sounds like you have a problem, your experience of the interface is not (in my experience) normal.

I look after a wide range of servers of a variety of spec's and my response time is usually sub-second and my startup time for admin serer is 1 to 2 minutes but I just leave it running.

On those servers where I can not use the ADMIN web server, I connect an manage those LPARs from another LPAR that does have ADMIN server using the TARGET server function.

    Using AreVerify to Test DNS
    Verify Network:
(Works on V6R1 and higher only)

    STRQSH

    /qibm/proddata/os/osgi/templates/bin/areVerify.sh -network

    Summary report written to /currentDirectory/network.summary
    Detailed report written to /currentDirectory/network.out

    Cheers Steve

I agree. The web-based iNavigator has some serious issues.

    1. It takes FOREVER to start up every time you need to cycle your system.
    2. It's SLOW as all get out. Not to mention cumbersome to use.

I don't mind Web-based apps, but I sure hate when IBM takes functions from PC based apps, moves them to the web, and then they are worse than what we had.
