Create an compile menus with Rational

The Problem in the Rational Developer for i is the missing opportunity to compile menus. In the 5250 Terminal Emulation you can use STRSDA (Screen Design Aid) to create and compile menus. There you have prepared lines to ll in the menu-options you want, as seen in picture 1 in chapter 1.1.5. After lling in all menu-options, SDA creates three objects, all with the same name: the commands, the display le and a message le for the menu. The compiled menu is seen in picure 2. After creating this les in the Emulation you can copy them and open them with the Rational Developer for i. In the Screen Designer of Rational Developer for i you can show the menu and edit it, but you can not compile them. The second problem is that there are not templates for a mnudds le, which you could edit with the Screen Designer. If a template with an empty menu would exist, you could simply add the wanted options like in the Terminal. See Pictures 3, 4 and 5.

Use Case:

Only the menu entry(s) and the matching command(s) must be inserted. Based on this input the MNUCMD und MNUDDS les are created. ScreenDesigner provides a function to compile menus and editing the compile parameters.

This RFE has been re-evaluated. Due to the relatively low number of votes, this RFE is now being declined.

A preliminary evaluation of this request indicates that it is consistent with our business strategy. Further evaluation of this RFE is underway.
