ACS Spool File Download Indicator

In the ACS Printer Output dialogue, add the option to show that a spool file download has been triggered.


Use Case:

The default view of this interface does not show when a spool file download has been initiated.

This is more noticeable on slower connections to the server, especially when combined with larger spool files.

Currently, the spool file does not show in the downloaded window until the spool download is complete. And by default, there is no indication that the spool file download request has started.

I appreciate that there is an option to turn on the Active Tasks Window but as this is not on by default, many people do not realise it is there.

Ideally, I would suggest you turn on this view by default and allow people to disable it if they don't want it. But equally, if there is another way you want to show the download has start that would do the job just as well.

    Thank you for submitting your Request For Enhancement. We understand the value of this RFE, but higher priority items have taken precedence. We are keeping this on our list for consideration in the near future.

    The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a medium priority requirement that should be addressed. The use of a download indicator is pretty much standard everywhere else, so it should be added here also to help the user know what is going on.

    Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.
