This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

additional comment: maybe a tree view in ACS would be great - there is the possibility to mark multiple files and move them with the mouse to a subdirectory in your current directory, but not to a different path starting from / path.
So having a tree view on the full IFS would make this possible (including the danger someone is working like this on QSYS.LIB *shiver*
The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a HIGH priority requirement that is important to address.
This feature would help to raise the adoption rate of using ACS GUIs as it makes it more intuitive to use.

The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a “nice to have” low priority feature. There are viable alternatives.

IBM has received this request and will consider it for a future code update, though no commitment is made or implied.
Hi Matthew,
Good idea, the Move option.
As an existing alternative which I am sure you are aware of, we use the Copy / Paste options. We open two IFS windows for the same system, we select multiple files from the source folder, and drag them across to the second IFS window where we have the target folder open.
Or select multiple files in the source folder, right-click to Copy, and then in the target folder right-click and Paste.
It does mean you temporarily have two copies of the files until you delete the files from the source folder. I guess though that extra temporary space will be required as well for a Move function.
Cheers,
Jozsef
