Rational Developer for I version 9.0.1 freezes up

We have been using Rational Developer for Power Systems v 8.5 for quite a while. Using this IDE, we had little to no problems. Entering source code into the editor was smooth as well as scrolling, and updating the outline. (it practically never froze up).

However since upgrading to Rational Developer for I v9.0, which is said to be an improvement over Rational developer for Power Systems v 8.5, it took all but a few hours for us to start experiencing a major problem.

Every letter that we typed into this editor made the application freeze and stop responding. We have tried disabling features such as live parsing and "update the outline when text is changed in the editor". This made little difference and only for a short while did the difference in performance remain. After only a few minutes the editor would start up again freezing upon entry of the code.

We have faithfully upgraded to your even later version of RDI 9.0.0.1 then RDI 9.0.1 and these have not solved our issue. It seems that the later releases of RDI have not addressed the issue.

We are not quite sure what the problem is since we have tried quite a few suggestions that we have found on the web to no avail.

NOTE: A few of us have RDI installed and do not experience the problem I describe here. Hence we are stumped as to what the problem could be. The users that are not having the problem I am describing here, however do have about 16GB of ram whilst the machines having problems are 8GB. However the 8gb machine seems to far exceed your recommended system requirements for RDI 9.0 and above.

What do you suggest can be done now to improve the performance of the current version of RDI that we have installed or any version of RDI 9.0 or above really?

Kindly see below for the Specification details:

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Programming Languages
Product - Developer for Power Systems

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Rational
Product family - Design & development
Product - Developer for Power Systems

Thank you for taking the time to explain your issue with our product. This issue would be more easily resolved by opening a Problem Management Record (PMR), since it appears to be a defect or change in behavior in the product from previous releases. For more information on opening a PMR, please see:

A preliminary evaluation of this request indicates that it is consistent with our business strategy. Further evaluation of this RFE is underway.
