1371E support

The ACS emulator updated its 1371 host code page support to the 2016 versions of the mapping's in November 2017.
This support uses the compatibility CJK ideographs and does not support the characters in plane 2 as no surrogates are supported by the ACS emulator.


Use Case:

Some parts of ACS (Data transfer download / upload and RSS) use Java toolbox and so they all have the same level of 1371E support as Java toolbox support was updated in 2018 so include the 2016 version of 1371E. But for the ACS function that does not use Java, it will need to enable the Unicode surrogate in 1371E for ACS emulator.

    Thank you for submitting your Idea to enhance IBM i Access Client Solutions (ACS). The ACS emulator currently only supports characters in the basic multilingual plane and does not support surrogates. Since we cannot deliver your requested enhancement in the near future, it is being declined.

    The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a high priority requirement that is important to be addressed. Although this affects a small number of clients, it is a gap with no work-around for that set of clients.

    Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.
