Support of Java versions on IBM i beyond Java 8

Java 8 has been the last supported version for 5 years now. It looks like there are no considerations to support version after 8 on IBM i (at least I don't find any information about it).
IBM i should also support more recent versions of Java.

Use Case:

We use the same Java program parts under IBM i as well as Windows. Since IBM i only supports 8, it is difficult to use newer versions or prevents it completely.

The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a high priority requirement that is important to be addressed. Oracle has announced end of support for Java 8 by end of 2020. A newer supported solution is needed from IBM.

This is on our road map. We are looking at several options for delivering Java on IBM i

Isn't this issue related to Oracle's change in licensing for newer versions of Java? This is likely beyond IBM's ability to control it with those changes. I agree with the sentiment however this may require a change on Oracle's part first.

Agree. For a company that was pushing Java as hard as they were, you would think they would keep up to date.
