Provide an IBM i Service for Collection Services configuration information

I have a need to review the Collection Services configuration when I work with clients. I must either do this manually through the GUI or with the CFGPFRCOL command. There is the Retrieve Collection Services Attributes API, but this would require a program on the client's system, which is problematic.

An IBM i Service that returns all of the configuration information about Collection Services would provide an easy and valuable interface to access this information.

Use Case:

When I am starting a project with a new client, I always review their Collection Services configuration. Today, this is a manual and error prone process. I need a simple way to retrieve the configuration information.

The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a MEDIUM priority requirement that should be addressed.

Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a crucial role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

To find out how CEAC help to shape the future of IBM i, see CEAC @ ibm.biz/BdYSYj and the article "The Five Hottest IBM i RFEs Of The Quarter" at ibm.biz/BdYSZT
