Have had recent issues for IBM i LPARs running as VIOS clients where 'large send offload' had to be disabled via a macro on the IBM I LPAR.
Once disabled the LPAR runs without issue and with good performance until we do a IPL.
What I am looking for is a permanent method on the IBM i LPAR to turn off 'largesendoffload' - rather than going to the VIOS server and disabling it on the physical, virtual and SEA connections.
To be used in any virtualized LPAR setup if required but especially on the same Power server that is hosting AIX lpars which may want to use large send offload capabilities.

After further investigation, we are currently not going to implement this in the short term. The specific issue was driven by a defect which has since been fixed. The design is to not require that level of configuration at the IBM i lpar level. We will continue to monitor this area to understand if there are any trends that would lead us to reconsider having a configuration setting for this.
This requirement is currently being considered for future releases.
