ACS Add warning message when trying to download or view a *IPDS print file.

As users get used to using ACS, they are downloading print files to their PC's. The majority are downloaded as PDF's.

For *IPDS print files, these files download as .bin files and not as .pdf or .txt.

.bin files are useless to anyone.

The request is to display a message when trying to display or download a print file that it cannot be converted to the default output format. The user can then decide what to do. In most cases all you can do is print it.

Please see case number: TS004138656

Use Case:

Our users use the function to send reports to management, customers or store the report as archived.

a .bin file cannot be opened and so has no value other than to get IT into trouble for not warning the user that they have downloaded an unreadable file.

Thank you for submitting your Idea to enhance IBM i Access Client Solutions (ACS). After further consideration, we have decided to not implement this request. You may determine the type of print file by selecting View-->Printer device type. This will allow you to see which files are *IPDS. We do not set that option by default because it performs much slower when retrieving files from the server.

IBM has received this request and will consider it for a future code update, though no commitment is made or implied.

Please transfer this request to the ACS requests. The system did not display the option to me. I tried to use values from other RFE's relating to ACS.

    Thank you.
