Validating to a RADIUS server for multi factor authentication MFA

IBM needs to modernize it's remote access services to include multi factor authentication.
It currently only allows authentication for dial up modems and needs to allow authentication through a RADIUS server for non dial up connections through the internet.

Use Case:

We are implementing MFA/2FA authentication on our systems and IBM does not have a native solution for the IBM i which means we would have to go through a 3rd party solution.
The DUO product we were looking at for MFA specified that we should be able to authenticate through their RADIUS server but we could not because the IBM i only allows authentication for dial up modems.

IBM will use this request as input to planning but no commitment is made or implied. This request will be updated in the future if IBM implements it. IBM will use votes and comments from others in the community to help prioritize this request.

The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a MEDIUM priority requirement that should be addressed.

Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a crucial role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

To find out how CEAC help to shape the future of IBM i, see CEAC @ ibm.biz/BdYSYj and the article "The Five Hottest IBM i RFEs Of The Quarter" at ibm.biz/BdYSZT

To understand the requirement more clearly, could you describe your cases in more details?
    Some other questions are:
    1. Do you plan to use Remote Access Service to connect systems ?
    2. Since the DIAL is not supported now, which protocol is used?
    3. Is it PPPoE (PPP over Ethernet)?
    4. Do you require RADIUS client support for the PPPoE ?
    5. How is the RADIUS client integrated to your solution ?
