IBM i ACS supports unicode display

we store unicode characters in AS400 DB2 but AS400 ACS can't display unicode characters, this makes users work inconvenient.

Use Case:

could you please help to modify ACS to support displaying unicode characters?

Thank you for submitting your Request For Enhancement. After evaluating your submission, the decision at this time is to not provide this support.

    hi support,
These two characters are just an example of unicode characters, we wish ACS emulator can support to display all unicode characters.
    thanks.

To better understand what you are requesting with this RFE can you please answer the following question.

The 2 characters identified as part of TS004305673 " ?? ?? " (correspond to U+0268 and U+0289) belong to the Unicode set called IPA Extensions. Is your request to add support to the ACS emulator for these two characters when using Chinese or were these two characters just an example of two random characters in your data that do not show up on the emulator?

If you want support for these two characters, then we would investigate adding the Unicode IPA range to the emulator.

The IPA Extensions are allocated values in the range of (U+0250???U+02AF) and consists of the 96 characters used in the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA).

    Thank you

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:

    Product family - Power Systems
    Product - IBM i
Component - IBM i Access Family
    Operating system - IBM i

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:

    Product family - Power Systems
    Product - IBM i
    Component - Application Development
    Operating system - IBM i
    Source - Client

    hi support,
yes, what I meant is ACS 5250 UI can't display unicode characters. please refer to attachment "Case TS004305673: iAccess 5250 cannot display unicode text".
however, our customized web application can show it correctly, this means AS400 db can support unicode.
you may have detailed information from attachment, include screenshot and use case.
our users are still using 5250 to work for business, so it's important to display correct data for them.
    thanks.

Could you please give some details on this ? Are you referring to the 5250 interface within ACS. ? I know that you can use the Run SQL Scripts support to show unicode content in a Db2 for i database.

Please give a use case on what you are trying to do so we can understand the scenario to see if there are other options already available, or if we need to update something.

IBM i ACS does support Unicode... see Communication, Configure, Enable Unicode Data Stream.
