Allow specification of custom hardware management interfaces

Many customers have their own web applications or services running on IBM i.
We would like to have possibility to add custom hardware management interfaces to ACS / system configuration by using individual names which identify an application.


Use Case:

Customer could add their own applications to ACS main screen to easily access services running on specified IBM i system.

    We have added support which will allow Hardware Management Interface 1 & 2 to be renamed to custom names by setting properties in AcsConfig.properties. This will be in our next update available in April 2022.

    The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a MEDIUM priority requirement that should be addressed.

    Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a crucial role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

    Thank you for submitting your Request For Enhancement. As we consider this request, we need to understand:
    1. Would you want the customized name to be available for all systems in your configuration?
    2. Would you expect to have different customized names on different systems?
    3. How many total customized names would you need for all of your system configurations?
