Adding an exit point for monitoring replies to error messages

There is no Exit Point for Monitoring for Replies to Inquiry Messages. It would be a nice enhancement to the Operating System.

Use Case:

In some rare situations, the user gets an error message (for example, MCH1202 or MCH0603 or MCH3603). Not know what to do - or ignoring the error - the user presses Enter which leads to problems discovered later down the chain.
using the case TS004673892, I was able to detect that the user got an error. The next step would be to add a monitor to identify what they replied.
Note that the reply could come few seconds later or a hour later if the user decides to take a lunch break for example.
The idea is to add an exit program.
Thank you,
Roger

The Reply Handling (QIBM_QMH_REPLY_INQ) is called when a reply is sent to an inquiry message. I believe this should meet your requirement.

There is also a related exit point, Inquiry Handling (QIBM_QMH_HDL_INQEXT), which is called in an interactive job when an inquiry message has been sent to *EXT and the job would be interrupted by the Display Program Messages screen to obtain a reply. This exit program can send a reply to the inquiry message, so the interactive user is not interrupted to provide a reply to the inquiry message.

Closing as declined, since this function is already available.

The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a “nice to have” LOW priority feature.

Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a crucial role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

To find out how CEAC help to shape the future of IBM i, see CEAC @ ibm.biz/BdYSYj and the article "The Five Hottest IBM i RFEs Of The Quarter" at ibm.biz/BdYSZT

I'm not sure I fully understand your use case, but was wondering if you considered the following exit points:
Inquiry Handling (QIBM_QMH_HDL_INQEXT) is called in an interactive job when an inquiry message has been sent to *EXT and the job would be interrupted by the Display Program Messages screen to obtain a reply. The exit program can send a reply to the inquiry message, so the interactive user is not interrupted to provide a reply to the inquiry message.
