Cloud storage solutions for i support for TrueNAS Linux

TrueNAS systems are not supported with Cloud Storage Solutions as an FTP destination. Using ICC with a TrueNAS ressource makes very unstable connections. It stores Qxxxxx.mta files that adds up to Qxxxxx virtual tapes on the distant storage, but cannot seem to find them back when trying to restore from WRKMEDIBRM/WRKMEDBRM. Backups and restores are very unstable using a TrueNAS as a backup storage system with ICC and BRMS. IBM ticket matching this issue, with all information within it : TS005927725. Could we please add TrueNAS support as an FTP resource for BRMS/ICC ? Many thanks ! Étienne PETIT.


Use Case:

We have implemented the Cloud Storage Solutions product with BRMS with TrueNAS systems at several clients' already, as it is an extremely common resource at middle-sized clients' that may not have the financial capabilities to use another IBM i or an AIX system as a backup storage system. A typical use case can be found with the ticket TS005927725.

    Hi Etienne,

    have you tried to make some adjustments on FTP client behaviour?
    Sometimes you can control how FTP client connects to servers using data areas:
    https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/disabling-epasveport-iseries-ftp-client-r610-and-above

    Or maybe you can use the S3 protocol on TrueNAS:

    https://www.truenas.com/docs/core/services/s3/
