When changing from SNMPv1 or SNMPv2 to SNMPv3 printing stops functioning on printers that worked successfully on previous versions of SNMP


Use Case:

Due to vulnerabilities in SNMPv1 and SNMPv2 customers are moving to SNMPv3 and existing IBMi printers are no longer functioning.

    .An SMPT v3 print driver is planned for a future release. When completed, we plan to PTF the new function back to existing releases.

    The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a HIGH priority requirement that is important to address.
    SNMPv3 is wildly considered to be the version to be used in the Simple Network Manage Protocol. We feel that the need to support SNMPv3 applies not only in this RFE use case but in all other uses of the protocol (system monitoring and management).

    Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a crucial role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.
