Text highlighting in ACS 5250 Emulator

It would be great to have an option in ACS to highlight a specific string if it appears anywhere on the screen. Something like CTRL-F (find) feature in Chrome.


Use Case:

When scrolling through many screens of data in the ACS 5250 emulator and looking for a specific text string such as "DMP1234" it can be time consuming trying to find the string with your eyes. If the ACS emulator could highlight the string if it appears anywhere on the screen, it would draw your eye immediately.

    Thank you for submitting your Request For Enhancement. After evaluating your submission, the decision at this time is to not provide this support. As previously mentioned, text search already exists. There are no plans to enhance the existing text search support as you have requested.

    This may not be as efficient as what you're asking for, but you can write a simple macro named as the string you wan to search for. The macro can do anything innocuous. Then turn on "Macro Hotspots" "Show as 3-D Buttons"

    This would effectively highlight the string.

    I sometimes set the ruler to a crosshair so it is visibly easier to find the location :-)
