Support USER as Default for VARCHAR(10) Columns in Db2 SQL Tables

Currently if I have a table with a varchar(10) field in it, I cannot specify DEFAULT USER or any of the other user registers because they are 18 bytes or longer.
However on IBM i, user Profiles are 10.
It would save me having to write a Trigger for every file I create to do the assignment anyway and have the CREATE TABLE statement support DEFAULT USER for VARCHAR(10) column definitions.

Use Case:

CREATE or REPLACE TABLE pos_PAYMENTS for SYSTEM NAME POSPMT
(
HID INT NOT NULL DEFAULT 0,
crtuser varchar(10) default NULL,
crtdate timeStamp not null default current_timeStamp,
METHOD varchar(16), -- type of payment method (2-character payment method)
AMTPAID Dec(7,2), -- Amount Paid.
CTRLNBR varchar(32) -- Check nbr, Gift Card nbr, credit card nbr etc.
);
CREATE or REPLACE TRIGGER POST_PMT01
BEFORE INSERT ON aiddata.pos_PAYMENTS
REFERENCING NEW AS NEWINFO OLD AS OLDINFO
FOR EACH ROW
SET NEWINFO.CRTUSER = COALESCE(NEWINFO.CRTUSER,USER);

Note the CRTUSER column is VARCHAR(10) DEFAULT NULL. I would like to write VARCHAR(10) DEFAULT USER and have it just work.

    IBM will use this request as input to planning but no commitment is made or implied. This request will be updated in the future if IBM implements it.
