This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

We have delivered all the 'modern' object create support. We do not plan on delivering updates for things like pnlgrps for example.
The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a high priority requirement that is important to be addressed. For modern DevOps tool chain, this is needed. This should include all ILE languages, and device creation, and panel groups (which are often used to provide help text). However, it is probably not worth the investment for OPM compile commands.
Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

While I agree that there is some need for this for CL, and even COBOL to a lesser extent, there is zero justification for adding the option to RPG400. Please IBM don't waste $s doing it for RPG.
P.S. Orion is not the primary reason I would want to see - but there is a rapid increase in git usage and there would be significant utility for CL for that reason.
This does not only apply to creation of programs. So this request can be as simple as:
Everywhere source physical files are involved should have an alternative IFS option on every command.
I would even go one step further and request a SRCSTMF parameter for CRTDSPF, CRTPRTF and CRTPNLGRP, since these commands are also required for application development. Most applications require at least:
CRT*MOD, CRT*PGM, CRTSRVPGM, CRTDSPF, CRTPRTF, CRTCMD and CRTPNLGRP for creating modules, program, service programs, display and printer files and commands and panel groups.
Although CRT*PGM could be replaced by CRTBND* in a lot of cases, the CRT*PGM commands should be enabled for stream files for better backward compatibility.
