Implement TCP Selective Acknowledgements

Instead of re-transmitting the packet AND ALL SUBSEQUENT packets in a block, instead use Selective Acknowledgements to re transmit ONLY the packet in error.

Today IBM i re-transmits many times the number of packets that are actually required!

Use Case:

In high volume traffic situations such as MIMIX and PowerHA re-transmissions clobber throughput. This causes large slowdowns in actual data throughput even though line utilization is high. Reducing the number of packets transmitted in this case could help significantly.

IBM agrees with the request and a solution appears to be desirable and feasible. IBM intends to provide a solution. However, IBM's plans may change and no commitment is made that a solution will be provided.
