BRMS needs to be able to append on media from different LPARs.

BRMS being able to append backups from multiple systems on a single tape.

Use Case:

With customers using multiple LPARs with small ASPs we need to be able to append multiple daily backups from different LPARs on a single tape to reduce the number of tapes we use.

The BRMS team does not intend to provide a solution to this request at this time..

The request does not align with the strategy for future investment because one of the core functions of BRMS is disaster recovery, which is why BRMS currently requires single system ownership of media. BRMS associates media to a specific system to go along with our recovery report. Having media associated with multiple systems is not a preferred disaster recovery solution. Another concern is that concurrent backup/restore operations are also not supported since the media is reserved to a single system during these operations.
