Allow PASSWORD(*NONE) users for native ODBC

Enterprise Identity Mapping (EIM) is a base component of IBMi and uses Kerberos for single-signon (SSO). With EIM, user profiles are set to PASSWORD(*NONE) and authentication is done via Kerberos.

The native ODBC driver does not support user profiles with PASSWORD(*NONE), even if no user is specificed on the connection string. If the connection is coming from an existing job, these user profiles should still be allowed to connect.

Ref support case# TS002876632

Use Case:

We are using the native ODBC driver from existing IBMi jobs using 'DSN=*LOCAL' as the connection string. This works fine for users with passwords, but users with PASSWORD(*NONE) cannot connect, even though no credentials are specified on the connection. Since the existing job is already authenticated, those users should still be able to connect.

Absolutely necessary to be able to use SQL function GENERATE_SPREADSHEET on a system using Kerberos.

The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a “nice to have” LOW priority feature.

Background: The CEAC members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a crucial role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

To find out how CEAC help to shape the future of IBM i, see CEAC @ ibm.biz/BdYSYj and the article "The Five Hottest IBM i RFEs Of The Quarter" at ibm.biz/BdYSZT

HIGHLY useful and usable feature for our environments depending upon SSO/EIM (Kerberos).
