IBM i must Decline this RFE because it is really a request for the Optim Test Data Management product, which does not have a presence on developerWorks. In order to submit your enhancement request to the correct team, and stay in contact with that team as they assess your idea, please submit enhancement requests for Optim products at this link: https://ibm-data-and-ai.ideas.aha.io/. Do select the "Optim" product area for feedback."
Meanwhile, with regard to this requirement for IBM i support of GENERATED ALWAYS columns: As of today there is only a workaround. The customer can alter the table so the column is GENERATED BY DEFAULT, insert or load the data, and then alter the column back to GENERATED ALWAYS.
Loading data with "GENERATED ALWAYS" can be overridden. You can use an SQL statement with OVERRIDING SYSTEM VALUE. But the the IBM InfoSphere Optim Test Data Management product may not support that.
