SQL DB2 change in the for system name

When you create an SQL table and the object identifier specified is a valid system name you can not specifiy a different for system name. I would like to be able to specifiy a different name for compatibility with older programs while using newer names.

Use Case:

When older programs use a normal old 6 name file and you want to give a new name of 10 characters only you have to change all of the old programs to use the new name. This makes it difficult if you use code generators to do conversions because you always need to make longer object identifiers.

IBM does not intend to provide a solution to this request at this time, so it is being closed.

There is a work around which is to use CREATE ALIAS to provide one or more additional names for the table. With an alias, you can have multiple names of any length for the same table.

I'll vote for that! It have been so annoying not to have a generic template for table generation.
