This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.
Welcome to the IBM Ideas Portal (https://www.ibm.com/ideas) - Use this site to find out additional information and details about the IBM Ideas process and statuses.
IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com) - Use this site to view all of your ideas, create new ideas for any IBM product, or search for ideas across all of IBM.
ideasibm@us.ibm.com - Use this email to suggest enhancements to the Ideas process or request help from IBM for submitting your Ideas.
Thank you for submitting your Request For Enhancement. After evaluating your submission, the decision at this time is to not provide this support. See the comments in the Discussion for ways to accomplish what you have requested.
The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM not implement this request. Just install ACS on your computer, save the SQL file as a .SQL file (which is the default), then when you double-click on that file it will automatically open up "Run SQL scripts", and you just connect to the system and run the query.
Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

We use the scripts to manage day to day activities. The scripts are varied and we have no easy way to run the scripts like a windows short cut or a hyperlink.
At present we have a spreadsheet of the scripts which we then copy, paste and run.
Giving operations access to the interactive SQL is dangerous. We need a simple mechanism for operators, IT folk and maybe some users to run these scripts and get the results they need.
An example would be to display spool files in an outq.
Scripts are very handy and save a huge amount of time.
See request for additional information on Sep 30, 2020.
Instead of Double-clicking an sql file from your PCs File Explorer, try putting the sql files in the IBM i IFS. Use the ACS IFS to navigate to your sql files and select the sql file. Then right-click (or select the menu Action) and select Open in Run SQL Scripts. This will still open a new RSS window, but it will automatically connect to the DB (which can be switched later if needed). If you have the ACS System Configuration set to something other than Prompt Every Time, at most you should only get prompted once and not at all if the credentials have already been cached. If this is not sufficient, please explain.
Multiple tabs is a separate request. See RFE https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=132438
