This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

IBM does not intend to provide a solution to this request at this time, so it is being closed. Since there are existing solutions for generating spreadsheets, we see limited value investing in a CPYTOSTMF enhancement.
Db2 Web Query appears to be a good fit for your need.
Here are links that describe some other potential solutions:

There are IBM i Open Source solutions as well.
When the output file uses a comma for the field separator and the file name ends with a .csv extension, then the file will usually open in Excel with the columns separated, unless your PC is configured to open a CSV file with another application. There are still some limitations, but it should at least save a step.
pnicolay,
I understands FoxPools point. The program extracting the data can mail
a file directly to the user in the XLS format without manual intervention.
Your approach requires that somebody does something manually to get the data in the right format.
Perhaps IBM should consider commands to convert between most common formats today.
It could be open source formats that is supported by the most common products today.
And here I am not only thinking about spreadsheet formats but also formats for editors etc.
