ACS Emulator Target Address Functionality

IBM i Access Client Solutions
In the bottom right corner of the 5250 emulator is a field that displays the target IP address or host name and port of the current connection. My request is to implement the ability to copy this information to the host OS clipboard in some way. Exact implementation could be as simple as click or double-click the field to copy the information. Even better would be a right-click option to copy either the host name or the IP address behind it - with or without the port number - depending on what data is available to the client.

Use Case:

User or administrator needs to capture the host name or IP address of the current connection for use in some other application.

Steps:
1. Click the field to copy data
2. Paste the information into some external application.

This will be in our next update. You will be able to double or triple click to select the partial or entire field as well as be able to swipe any portion of it. To copy, you will need to use the keyboard shortcut (ctrl-c on Windows) since the menu Edit->Copy will not apply to this area. There will also not be a right-click context menu for copy.

IBM understands this request and will consider it for a future code update, though no commitment is made or implied.

I consider that a temporary workaround, but I do not feel it satisfies the requirement because the history can be cleared. Once the history is cleared, the data can no longer be retrieved through that interface without disconnecting and reconnecting to the system.

The field you are referring to is on the right side of the Status Bar. Click on the left side of the Status Bar and a window will appear with the Status Bar History. The information you are looking for is in there and can be copied to the clipboard using the keyboard shortcut for copy (eg Ctrl-C). Does that meet the requirement?

Just go to Communication - Configure... it is listed there as Destination address
