Monitor for Hardware Key expiration

We are trying to extract the firmware status to allow tracking of expired keys. There are some commands which will extract the key information (DSPFMWSTS) but no associated API's that we can find. We looked at monitoring for the messages when the key expires but they only occur infrequently. We would like to see the underlying API exposed for the command

Use Case:

Be able to extract the Key information to allow notification of the status (days to expire) so allowing correct key management.

While I agree the overall process has been delivered it is cumbersome to use because of the external web link that is required to allow the SQL request to run. It also takes a significant amount of time for the response to be sent back to the SQL interface.

The Only thing I really need to access is the Expiration date. I do not believe that this is requested from the remote web server detailed in the information. I did run the DSPMFWSTS which runs a lot faster than the SQL request. Would it be possible to remove the remote web request from the SQL or just provide the ability to just get the expire date? If this is SQL over a DB table could we get the DB table name to extract the information directly.

This enhancement was delivered in spring 2021 with IBM i 7.4 PTF Group level 13 and IBM i 7.3 PTF Group level 24.

The SYSTOOLS.FIRMWARE_CURRENCY view has been expanded to return information from the DSPFMWSTS command, including the key expiration, FW_UPDATE_ACCESS_KEY_EXPIRATION.

IBM will use this request as input to planning but no commitment is made or implied. This request will be updated in the future if IBM implements it.

The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a MEDIUM priority requirement that should be addressed.

Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a crucial role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

To find out how CEAC help to shape the future of IBM i, see CEAC @ ibm.biz/BdYSYj and the article "The Five Hottest IBM i RFEs Of The Quarter" at ibm.biz/BdYSZT

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Power Systems
    Product - IBM i
    Component - Db2 for i
    Operating system - IBM i
Source - ISV (Independent Software Vendor)

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Power Systems
    Product - IBM i
    Component - PTF, Service
    Operating system - IBM i
Source - ISV (Independent Software Vendor)

    Hi,

This is a great idea. So why not add the date which can be viewed with the DSPFMWSTS command to the DB2 for i service for the Firmware Currency.

By adding the field "Update access key expiration date" SQL can be used to achieve was if asked for in this RFE.
