Change IBM i servers using basic authentication

As a result of increased security on our companies network, our browsers are disabled for HTTP basic authentication which makes that we can no longer access websites which use this kind of authentication mechanism.

We therefore propose to change the basic authentication to form based authentication as most modern websites to today.

Use Case:

Our major concern is now the *ADMIN server /HTTPAdmin site for configuring HTTP and IWS, as well as the DCM servers which we can no longer access.

The IBM i Navigator website is no issue as it uses form based authentication.

The CAAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a high priority requirement that is important to be addressed. Security-related RFEs like this one are critical to the system. Modern advances in access need to be supported.

Background: The COMMON Americas Advisory Council (CAAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CAAC has a key role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community, and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

The ability to secure IBM i is at the heart of its value proposition. So an RFE like this promotes the use of secure access to modern application frameworks like the IWS referenced in this RFE, should be given a high priority by IBM.

We use group profiles and they do not have passwords. We use IWS for deployment installs using a group profile. Currently they fail due to password *NONE = *YES. This design should change to allow group profiles to not have passwords and be able to deploy without failures.
