Support autECL in IBM i ACS (macro's)

A customer has written several hundreds of macro's for IBM i Access for Windows based on Automation Objects (autECL) which isn't supported by IBM i ACS.

Based on the IBM case which states "Now, internally IBM i ACS does leverage HACL, but it doesn't externalize that to user programing interaction" the request is to externalize this functionality so that macro's don't need to be rewritten.

Use Case:

Customer has several hundred macro's which no longer work and would need to be rewritten in a totally different language.

Thank you for submitting your Request For Enhancement. As stated in our GettingStarted document section 9.6.2 Migrating 5250 Emulation:
"A macro conversion utility is available. From the Session Manager at Tools->Convert Macro..."
    It also states:
"The macro conversion utility may not be able to convert a PC5250 macro if the macro is a custom macro that contains more than just recorded key strokes."
The automation objects you refer to are specific to Windows. The ACS emulator is based on Java. These types of macros will not migrate to ACS. The only way to avoid rewriting these types of macros would be to use the 5250 emulator that is part of IBM Personal Communications. The 5250 emulator that was in IBM i Access for Windows was a descendent of the IBM Personal Communications emulator so your existing macros should work as-is. Note that the IBM Personal Communications emulator is licensed separately. Unfortunately, we have to decline this Request For Enhancement.
