Enhance SSO for Navigator for i to allow for redundant LDAP servers

In traditional EIM/SSO for 5250, it is possible to configure multiple KDCs for redundancy in the krb5.conf. However, when configuring SPNEGO for Navigator for i there is only one KDC able to be added to the configuration using the configure.sh script.

The following can be added to the <LdapRegistry> portion of the Liberty configuration to enable this redundancy:

<failoverServers name="failoverLdapServersGroup1">
<server host="server03.company.com" port="389" />
<server host="server01.company.coml" port="389" />
<server host="server02.company.com" port="389" />
</failoverServers>

This allows ADMIN2 SPNEGO to operate in a similar fashion to the krb5.conf with multiple KDCs

Use Case:

Customers need to have a redundant configuration to help IBM Navigator for i operate in a similar fashion to 5250 kerberos SSO. Without this feature, it would be possible that 5250 kerberos would work, but IBM Navigator for i would fail due to an issue with a KDC. This creates a single point of failure.

    The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a MEDIUM priority requirement that should be addressed. We can see how adding this functionality would remove a single point of failure but we would like IBM to focus on other prioriries at this time.

    Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a crucial role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.

    To find out how CEAC help to shape the future of IBM i, see CEAC @ ibm.biz/BdYSYj and the article "The Five Hottest IBM i RFEs Of The Quarter" at ibm.biz/BdYSZT

    IBM understand this requirement and will consider it as part of future deliveries.
