This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Hello,
we are using the qsys2.jvm_info view very frequently. But there is an issue if one or more jvms running on the system are, for example, looping, blocked or any other other bad state but the jvms are not terminating.
The select call to qsys2.jvm_info will run either for a few minutes (at least 120 secs per bad jvm) before the result is coming back or sometimes infinitie and does not provide any result.
Is there a way that you could implement some kind of configurable hard timeout, when qsys2.jvm_info scans all jvms on the system and cannot get stats from a jvm which is in a bad condition?
We then could reduce it as it seems that default timeout is summed up for each bad jvm.
I see this error on v7r2, v7r3 and v7r4.
If there would be a fix at least for v7r4 that would be nice.
On v7r4 we are on cumptf 21238 with JAVA PTF Level 12 (SR6FP35) and DB2 at Level 15
We use qsys2.jvm_info and also a lot of other views for monitoring a very large environment of jvm native jobs and websphere (liberty and express) jvms.

The response wait time for the QSYS2.JVM_INFO view was changed from 2 minutes to 3 seconds. In addition the new QSYS2.JVM_INFO table function was introduced, allowing the user to customize the wait time.

IBM Power Systems Development
The CEAC has reviewed this requirement and recommends that IBM view this as a MEDIUM priority requirement that should be addressed.
Background: The COMMON Europe Advisory Council (CEAC) members have a broad range of experience in working with small and medium-sized IBM i customers. CEAC has a crucial role in working with IBM i development to help assess the value and impact of individual RFEs on the broader IBM i community and has therefore reviewed your RFE.
