iACS - HOD

we have done a network installation of iACS inside our IFS with restricted access for functions like "run SQL-Scripts". Our Users can only see the 5250-Emulator and their SPLFs. We have entered the restrictions inside the AcsConfig.properties-file. So far so good. When the users then open a 5250-Session (=HOD-Session) from the iACS-headmenu they find a toolbar with all icons and with access to functions we have restricted in the AcsConfig.properties-file !? Additionally the restricted functions can be also clicked inside an HOD-Session via the Menue Actions ! To restrict the access to this security-relevant functions you must additionally edit the .hod-file. To check if everything is fine we looked for a documentation of the key-val-pairs inside the hod-file. But it seems there is nothing available for customers, but only for IBM-Developers. To restrict the access to the menubar, we found out that this can be done by entering the hod-DEVD-files with the iACS Session Manager. Our RFE would be to synchronize the Restrictions of AcsConfig.properties-file with HOD and other related entry-functionality of iACS. But one point is really missing: a documentation of the key-val-pairs inside the hod-file. We made a lot of try-error changes inside the hod-file and from my point of view this is all but not productive.

Thank you for submitting your Request For Enhancement. The behavior you are requesting already exists and functions as you are requesting.

    In your Description you state:
???We have entered the restrictions inside the AcsConfig.properties-file. So far so good. When the users then open a 5250-Session (=HOD-Session) from the iACS-headmenu they find a toolbar with all icons and with access to functions we have restricted in the AcsConfig.properties-file"

This would be considered a defect, not an enhancement. However, we have been unable to reproduce the above described behavior. If however, you opened the 5250 session from the Desktop and not from the ACS main GUI, you are likely invoking a configuration for ACS that is not using the AcsConfig.properties file that contains the restrictions. Since this is a network installation, the root cause is going to be that your customized AcsConfig.properties file is not getting propagated to your users. One reason that can happen is if your users already had an AcsConfig.properties file present. If that is the case, an update will not overwrite an existing AcsConfig.properties file.

I see you opened IBM support Case TS008450059. After reviewing the Case, apparently our Service team was not able to determine the reason why this is not working for you. You should not have to modify the .hod files to get the desired behavior. In fact, that could cause additional issues and is discouraged. I will contact the Service team about this. Please contact our Service team again and refer to your previous support Case (TS008450059) and this RFE. They will work with the Development team for additional assistance.

Setting this RFE to ???Need More Information". Let us know when you have contacted Service.
