RPGIV BIFs for uppercase/lowercase conversion Merged

Add a BIF to RPGIV to convert the alphanumeric argument to lowercase (e.g. %tolower), and a BIF to convert the alphanumeric argument to uppercase (e.g. %toupper). Every PL i know of has these fundamental functions available "built-in".

Use Case:

In business, many times a text needs to be converted to uppercase or lowercase. For example when receiving an XML document with a company name in it, the name is first converted to uppercase before it's stored in the database to be sure it's always searchable case sensitively.

Your request is a duplicate of RFE 92793. http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=92793

Please use that RFE to cast a vote or add a comment.

You can easily write these yourselves (takes 5 minutes in a Quick and Dirty version, 30 minutes for full codepage supported version).

On the other hand it is indeed stupid that we don't have these, and I'd prefer %Lower/%Upper as well (and add %CamelCase as well).

    I personally prefer %Upper and %Lower vs. %ToUpper and %ToLower.
