This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Power Systems products, including IBM i. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

This behavior is not unique to *SOCKET objects. An IFS save operation will send a CPD37C3 for several types of IBM provided objects that ship with a default attribute value ALWSAV(*NO). The ALWSAV attribute is user controlled and can be changed if desired with the CHGATR command, for example: CHGATR OBJ('/dir/subdir/obj') ATR(*ALWSAV) VALUE(*YES). Additionally at the end of the save operation a final CPD37C4 is sent with the total count of CPD37C3 messages encountered as well as a total count of objects which were not saved due to their attribute set to "System restricts save". The "System restricts save" attribute is restricted by IBM and cannot be changed by a user, therefore there are no messages in the joblog that identify these objects as there is nothing a user can do to save them and they do not impact a recovery. Refer to the following document for more information: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/message-cpd37c3-during-go-save-option-21-or-sav-ifs-qibmproddata-directories
If BRMS is used for backups, these messages may cause BRMS to indicate a problem occurred with the control group when really they are of no concern. The following document describes this topic and provides a method to suppress the messages when using BRMS: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/645601
All that being said, this request for *SOCKET types is a subset of a previously opened RFE (RFE ID 122658) which is generalized for all types that produce CPD37C3. Any enhancement IBM provides would be generalized and for that reason this RFE will be closed as a duplicate. Please use that RFE to cast a vote or add a comment.
IBM has received the requirement and is evaluating it. IBM will provide a response after evaluation is complete.
